Heinrich Ernst Beyrich ( German: Heinrich Ernst Beyrich ; 1815–1896) - German geologist and paleontologist , corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1876) [1] , brother of Ferdinand Beirich [2] .

Biography
Heinrich Ernst Beirich was born on August 31, 1815 in the city of Berlin. He showed a penchant for studying sciences even in high school, after which he entered the University of Berlin , where he wanted to study botany , zoology and geology, however, under the influence of Christian Samuel Weiss , he devoted himself entirely to the latter. Then, to continue his education, he went to the University of Bonn , where he studied paleontology under the supervision of George August Goldfus .
He was a professor of geology at the University of Berlin and chairman of the Prussian Geologische Landesanstalt .
As a professor, he is known for his geological surveys carried out according to the methodology of Christian Leopold von Buch . Also, under his leadership, a map was compiled (on a scale of 1: 25000): " Geologische Karte von Preussen und den Thüringschen Staaten ". In addition, Beirich published a number of geological articles in Poggendorf's Annalen , Carsten's Archiv , Monatsberichten der Akademie der Wissenschaften and Zeitschrift der deutschen Geologischen Gesellschaft [3] .
In 1857, he got an assistant in the Mineralogical Museum of Berlin, which he supplemented with his paleontological collections, which he collected during scientific trips. In the same year, he initiated the founding of the German Geological Society.
In 1875, Beirich was appointed director of the joint museum of natural history.
Heinrich Ernst Beich died on July 9, 1896 in the city of Berlin. He was married, but he did not leave any heirs.
Beirichite mineral was named after him [4]
