Biography
Born in 1916 in the village of Klinskoye, Ryazan province [1] in a peasant family. Russian
Education is incomplete secondary. After school, he graduated from tractor courses at MTS . About five years he worked as a machine operator on the collective farms of the region. He graduated from the Ozyorsk school of FZU .
He was sent to the front in June 1942 . He served as a loader in the calculation of the guns of the 1955th anti-tank artillery regiment with the rank of sergeant . He participated in the battle on the Kursk Bulge , fought on the Bryansk, Central and 1st Belorussian fronts.
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944 . In April 1945, Sergeant Kanunnikov V.P. in the battles for Berlin volunteered to participate in the assault group of the Reichstag of the 79th Rifle Corps. On April 28, he was one of the first to cross the Spree (Spree) river. He was wounded, but did not leave the battlefield. On April 29, in the area of the Reichstag building, V. Kanunnikov destroyed the enemy group of Fausters with grenades. He died the death of the brave in this battle, when, as part of a group of Soviet soldiers, he stormed the main building of Germany .
He was buried in Berlin .
Awards and titles
- By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946, for the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and for the courage and heroism shown in battles with the Nazi invaders, Sergeant Kanunnikov Vasily Petrovich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

- In 1995, V. P. Kanunnikov was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the Ozersky District [2] .
