On June 22, 1941, the detachment, numbering 1,463 personnel [2] , was on the defensive on a stretch of the Soviet state border in the Elisenvaar area.
The detachment included the 1st border commandant's office as part of the 1st reserve frontier outpost, the 1st - 4th border outposts, the 2nd frontier commandant's office as part of the 2nd reserve frontier outpost, 5th - 8th frontier outposts, 3rd border commandant's office as part of 3rd reserve border outposts, 9th - 13th border outposts, maneuverable group. He was a member of the Border Guard Department of the NKVD of the Leningrad Border District.
The headquarters of the detachment was in Elisenvaara .
As part of the army from June 22, 1941 to August 13, 1942.
During the defensive operation, the detachment entered operational subordination to the command of the 19th rifle corps , which was set to firmly close the state border on the Ristilakhti , Kurmanpokhya sector and prevent the enemy from breaking through to Lake Ladoga . Entered into hostilities on June 28-29, 1941, when fighting took place with small groups of Finnish troops (from one to two platoons) in sectors 3, 5, 9, 10, and 12 outposts. Then, from July 1, 1941, Finnish troops launched a limited offensive in the general direction of Hiitola on the right flank of the 142nd Infantry Division . The 1st detachment of the detachment delayed the advance of the enemy by force to the battalion, defending the line north-west of Ristilakhti . The 2nd outpost was forced to move north-west of Ristilahti. The 3rd outpost, leading the battle together with the 4th outpost and the battalion of the 461st rifle regiment , was encircled in the Kankala region, leaving it, and went over to the defenses in the area north of Parikka. However, the 4th outpost, together with the infantry battalion, remained surrounded and continued to fight hard with the enemy in the Kankala region. The 5th outpost, also with the battalions of the 461st rifle regiment, was also surrounded, with battles it left the encirclement and went over to the defense at the new frontier. The 6th outpost on July 1, 1941 continued to hold on to Raivio . Nevertheless, the Finnish troops continued the offensive, rejecting the Soviet units from the border and on July 2, 1941 reached the line of Nivonranta - Silopohya - Meriya - Piyarvi - Hutolampa - Lemonko. On July 3, 1941, the detachment's units occupied the following positions: the garrison of the first commandant's office with 1, 2, 3, 4 and reserve outposts, the second battalion of the 461st rifle regiment, the 1st division of the 366-th howitzer regiment in the area near Ristilakhti, the garrison 2nd commandant's office with 5, 7, 9 and 10 outposts, 43rd artillery regiment cap and 260th artillery regiment on the Roivio-Uconmurto sector, 588th infantry regiment with a garrison of 3 commandant's offices and with 11, 12 and 13 outposts plot plot Ukonmurto - Kuysama. Until July 7, 1941, the detachment conducted military operations at approximately the same lines, in some places being forced to withdraw. Then the command of the 23rd army launched a counterattack, as a result of which almost everywhere the position on the border was restored. Once again, Finnish troops began active operations in the detachment zone only at the beginning of August 1941, undertaking a massive offensive, with the result that the detachment was divided. One of the groups of the detachment (120 people), headed by its commander, united with other divisions into a consolidated group under the command of Colonel Donskov, covering the inter-terrain defile and the roads to Kaarlahti- Kexholm . Most of the detachment remained with parts of the 142nd Infantry Division , which in the second decade of August 1941 was evacuated from the coast of Lake Ladoga by ships. Apparently, this part of the personnel in the end of August 1941 in the Vaskelovo area replenished the 1st Rifle Division of the NKVD .
Since September 21, 1941, the detachment itself [3] entered a separate rifle brigade of the border troops of the NKVD , where the 102nd border detachment was part of the brigade. August 13, 1942 as part of a separate rifle brigade of the border troops of the NKVD detachment transferred to the Red Army .
On the basis of the 27th Infantry Brigade , the renowned 201st Infantry Division was subsequently established , and in the current 201st Motorized Infantry Division (now the brigade), according to some information, the banner of the 102nd Detachment is stored along with the divisional banner.
