Gameplay
The player controls the main character of the game with a third-person view. A player can switch between a first-person view and a third-person view at any time. The player can hike or ride in various mechanized suits called armored suits. The armored suit carries heavy weapons, such as a Gatling machine gun and rocket launchers . You can pick up weapons that lie on the ground and fire from different weapons at the same time. Moving on foot, players can use the hook to get to hard-to-reach spots, or connect to an armored suit and grab it. Driving an armored suit and using certain types of weapons requires thermal energy. In addition, the cold temperature of the planet constantly reduces the level of thermal energy of the player. The player can replenish his level of thermal energy, defeating enemies or activating data transfer posts. Data transfer posts also allow the player to use their navigation radars to see approaching enemies. Each of the 11 levels is accompanied by a boss, who can be either an enemy in an armored suit or a large Acrid.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer over the Internet also requires players to monitor the level of thermal energy, but here, when the energy runs out, this does not lead to the death of the player. Instead, the player cannot use an armored suit or a firearm that requires thermal energy. Multiplayer consists of four modes: Elimination, Team elimination, Capture of the post and the Fugitive. Players gain points by killing other players and activating data transfer posts, and they lose points when they die or commit suicide . Capturing a post is a mode in which players of the opposing team compete to capture as many data transfer posts as possible before the set time expires. Team elimination is a competition to destroy enemy teams; 16 players can participate maximum. Elimination - this is Deathmatch mode again for 16 players. Fugitive is a game mode where one person is marked as a fugitive, while others try to collect all the fugitive points before time runs out [7]
Game plot
Scene
The event of the Lost Planet game takes place in T. S.-80, when the conditions for living on Earth became impossible for a person. Megacorporation Neo-Venus Construction (NEVEC) plans to colonize EDN III. Arriving on the planet, NEVEC discovers an alien race, later named Acrid, and is forced to immediately abandon the colonization of the planet. Returning to EDN III with an army ready for battle, they discover that the Acrida contain thermal energy sources (T-ENG), which is necessary to survive on the planet. NEVEC is building the first armored suit (VS) that runs on T-ENG to combat Acrid. Meanwhile, civilian colonists and military men calling themselves “snow pirates” continue to look for a way out of their nomadic way of life, collecting T-ENG from the destroyed Acrid.
Overview
The game begins with the main character of the game, Wayne (Wayne) Holden, his father Gale and their soldiers being given the task of killing the giant Acrid, known as the Green Eye. During the mission, the hero separates from his team and sees his father’s armored suit explode.
Wayne thrown in the snow and lay under the snow in suspended animation for 30 years. He wakes up and discovers that he is under the supervision of Yuri Zolotov and his crew: snow pirates Luke and Rick. Apart from his name and the Green Eye, Wayne does not remember anything about his past life. Yuri is particularly interested in the thermal expansion (or Harmonizer) attached to Wayne's arm, which allowed him to survive all this time. Yuri tells Wayne that NEVEC is working on a project to thaw the planet to make it safe so that it has life on it. Wayne joins the group of Yuri, and during the assignment to destroy the hive Akridov fights with a woman named Basil. Basil tells him that Yuri killed her husband and that she wants revenge. At the same time, Yuri mysteriously disappears, leaving Wayne with a question of trust in him. With the help of Rick and Luke, Wayne discovers the location of the Green Eye and destroys it using the armored suit of his father Gale. Shortly thereafter, Wayne and his armored suit find themselves attacked by NEVEC field commander Bandero. After escaping from an attack, Wayne recalls that his father was killed not by the Green Eye, but by Bandero and several NEVEC soldiers. Wayne barely escapes, only to find out that their pirate fortress (trailer) was besieged and that Rick was captured.
Over the next year, Wayne and Luke carry out military raids on NEVEC, which took control of all of humanity on the planet. During one of their attacks, they discover that Rick is still alive thanks to Basil's help. Basil and Wayne are taking hostage a NEVEC soldier named Joe. After that, Basil explains that the Harmonizer slows down the aging process and enhances the effect of Gale's armored suit. After questioning Joe, they learn more about the Frontier NEVEC project. Joe tells them that this is NEVEC’s plan to make EDN III a safe place to live. After joining the ranks of snow pirates, Joe arranges a meeting with Wayne NEVEC management and involuntarily leads to an ambush where Bandero shoots Wayne in the leg. During the confrontation, Wayne and Joe find out that the project will use T-ENG to destroy all Acrid, but it will also kill all people on the surface, and all members of NEVEC will watch it safely from space. Frightened pirates continue their last mission to stop the project. Wayne confronts Bandero and kills him, returning his father's rebuilt armored suit. Wayne finds Yuri dying of torture, Yuri gives Wayne an appendix to his Harmonizer, which would allow him to discover the true power of his armored suit.
While Wayne begins his attack on the NEVEC boss Eisenberg’s commander, Basil sacrifices himself to gain time for him, and Joe sets off to set up explosives to destroy the elevator that NEVEC wanted to hide in. Wayne fights with Eisenberg and after fighting in armored suits, puts one bullet in his head with a pistol, then faints and again loses his memory. Wayne wakes up and discovers Luke and Rick and the beginning of the melting of snow and ice on the planet, as well as the slow colonization of the planet, which begins again.
