Get it right (song)

“Get It Right” is a composition performed by Rachel Berry , the character of actress Lia Michelle in the episode “ Original Song ” of the second season of the American musical television series “Choir” on March 15, 2011, and included in the album of soundtracks Glee: The Music, Volume 5 . Unlike traditional cover versions performed on the television series, the song is original and written specifically for the show by the musical producer of the series Adam Anders together with his wife Nikki Hassman and composer Pir Astom. The song was written specifically for Leah Michel and is a piano ballad with a light influence of country music [1] . MTV channel observer Ali Semigran suggested that the composition bears a similarity to the 2004 song “ Everytime ” by singer Britney Spears [2] .

Critics rated Leah Michelle's vocals [3] [4] , but found the song itself "stupid" and "boring." The lyrics of the song are about insecurity and lost relationships. The track reached the 16th position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart , and also appeared on the first forty positions of the national charts of other countries. The song was aired on March 15, 2011 in the sixteenth episode of the second season of the television series, where Rachel Berry performed it with Brittany Pierce (Heather Morris) and Tina Cohen-Chang ( Jenna Ashkovits ).

Creation

On February 23, 2011, it was announced that the original composition would be performed for the first time in Choir, and not a cover version, as it was before. Two songs, " Loser Like Me " and "Get It Right", were supposed to appear in the episode of March 15, 2011 [5] . The authors of “Get It Right” were the series’s music producer Adam Anders, his wife Nikki Hassman, and Anders’s partner in work, Pir Astrom. According to Anders, the song was written specifically for Leah Michelle and her character in the TV series Rachel Berry. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Anders said that the storyline of Rachel and Finn ’s relationship inspired him to write a song. He later added: “I watched Rachel fight. She always does the right thing, or she tries to do it, but in the end everything only gets worse. ” The song is a lyrical ballad aimed at “breaking the listeners into a tear” [6] . The premiere of “Get It Right” and “Loser Like Me” took place on February 26, 2011 at the Ryan Seacrest radio show ; March 1 appeared in a wide radio broadcast, and March 15 sounded in the sixteenth episode of the second season of the Original Song [7] . On the same day, both songs were released as digital singles via iTunes in the United States [8] . In the episode, the song was performed by Rachel Berry (Lea Michelle) at regional choral club competitions with Brittany Pierce (Heather Morris) and Tina Cohen-Chang ( Jenna Ashkovits ) as backing vocalists. The debut of “Get It Right” at the sixteenth position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart took place on March 26; 151 thousand copies were sold in the first week [9] . In total, the song took the fifth place among all the singles of the choir, released by digital distribution with 712 thousand downloads [10] .
