Location

From the east, Stepanovka is limited by the Ushayka river, from the north and west by the railway , from the south-west by the experimental site of the Siberian Botanical Garden , and from the south by the territory of the Zonalnensky rural settlement of the Tomsk region

History

The name was given by the name of the local homeowner of the Tomsk wine merchant Stepan Egorovich Sosulin, whose acquisition marked the beginning of the village. During this Tomsk exile (1846-1856), Decembrist G. S. Baten'kov lived in his own house. It was located in the area of the current Stepanovsky lane, on the banks of the Ushayka River .

In fact, Stepanovka consisted of two parts: a classic industrial-agrarian merchant loan and a special summer residence. In the "summer" part of Stepanovka in 1911 there were only a few houses for 12 families. But it was this area that gradually turned into a resort - experiments on koumiss treatment were carried out here [2] .

Subsequently, the growing summer cottage village swallowed up several neighboring villages, in particular - Khaidukovo , located in the area of the current Minin Lane and Vesennyaya Street, where Matvey Matveyevich Gedenstrom spent the last years of his life.

In the 1950s, after the appearance of residential buildings beyond the railway lines, in the vicinity of Tomsk I station, it became part of Tomsk.

Current status

Large streets - Bogdan Khmelnitsky, Lomonosov, Socialist. The transport connection with Stepanovka is complicated by the fact that the main road to the microdistrict passes through a railway crossing located between Shevchenko and Lomonosov streets, which is often closed because it is located in the immediate vicinity of Tomsk I station. Public transport - bus routes No. 10, 12 and 53.

The development of the district is mainly low-rise, mostly private houses with personal plots, with the exception of the quarter along Botanichesky Lane, which is built up with multi-storey multi-apartment buildings.

Between Stepanovka and Mokrushinsky microdistrict there is an experimental site of the Siberian Botanical Garden . Botanical Lane and Mokrushin Street are connected by an asphalt road.

There is a school No. 35, a branch of Sberbank, shops, a bathhouse No. 13, a sauna “Wild Goat”, “Center for Family Medicine”, “Stepanovskaya Library”, and the theater and concert box office “BRAVO”.

Between Stepanovka and Akademgorodok there is a set of jumps that require repair.

On the territory of Stepanovka it is planned to build a multi-storey microdistrict and an individual cottage development village.
