The length of the estuary is more than 20 km, the area is 55 km², the average depth is 1.2 m. Food is provided due to the waters of the Kuban coming through the Kurchansky Canal. The estuary maintains a direct connection with the Sea of Azov through the Solovievsky girlo . The total salinity of the water here is from 2.94 to 8.70 g / l.
