Doropoulos, Vasilis

Vasilis Doropoulos ( Greek Βασίλης Δωρόπουλος , Mesopotamia, Kastoria , Western Macedonia , born 1942) is a modern Greek sculptor. Lives and works in France and Greece [2] .

Biography

Vasilis Doropoulos was born in 1942 , in the village of Mesopotamia, Mr. Kastoria, Western Macedonia . In 1965, he moved with his mother to Paris , where he completed his art education ( National Higher School of Fine Arts ) in the painting workshops of the artist M. Tondu and sculptors d'Etienne Martin, de Colomarini and de César. Since 1968, Vasilis Doropoulos took part in many solo and collective exhibitions and received a number of awards. At the same time, Doropoulos performed sculptures and medals for the Hotel de la Monnaie in Paris. Doropoulos is a member of the House of Artists of Paris, the Professional Union of Paris Sculptors, the House of Artists of Athens and the Professional Union of Sculptors of Greece. In 2006, the Center for Greek Culture organized a retrospective exhibition of the sculptor at the House of Greece in Paris, under the auspices of the Greek Embassy in France [3] . In 2008, Vasilis Doropulos was among 8 sculptors selected among 200 sculpture candidates from around the world invited by the City Hall of Tokamati , Japan , to participate in the Third International “Granite Stone Sculpture Symposium”. Doropoulos and Italian Renato Ischia represented Europe. The symposium lasted 2 months, during which the sculptors were guests of the city hall and received rewards from it. The “bark” of Doropoulos received rave reviews from the Japanese press [4] [5] .

  • 1981: Rubens Grand Prix Belgian-Spanish Association, Paris
  • 1982: The Golden Palm of the Critics (Paris)
  • 1990: Lions Club Prize (Printemps Salon, Villeneuve la Garenne)
  • 1998: Lions Club Prize of Athens, for “Contribution to Art”
