History
Karachun is one of the oldest villages in the Voronezh region. At the beginning of the XYII century, the Bogorodetsk-Karachunsky Vladimir monastery was founded on the Voronezh River , at which the village of Karachun arose. In the sentinel book of 1615 at the monastery, among other things, two churches are mentioned. In 1659 the monastery was devastated by the Crimean Tatars, and in 1764 it was abolished. In 1881 [1] according to the project of architect Dmitry Znobishin, a brick church was built in the name of the icon of the Mother of God of Vladimir . According to the Reference Book for the clergy of the Voronezh Diocese for 1900, the priest Dimitriy Yakovlevich Petrov and the psalmist Nikolai Trostyansky were on the staff of the church. Church lands covered 33 tithes. In the Soviet period, food was stored in the church.
