The 73rd border Red Banner detachment of the NKVD troops is a unit of the border troops of the NKVD of the USSR that took part in the Great Patriotic War .

History

The detachment was formed in March 1922.

On June 22, 1941, the detachment, numbering 1090 personnel [1] , was on the defensive on the site of the Soviet state border in the region of Rebola

The detachment consisted of the 1st border commandant as part of the 1st reserve frontier outpost, the 1st - 4th border outposts, the 2nd border commandant's office as part of the 2nd reserve frontier outpost, the 5th - 9th border outposts, 3rd border commandant as part of the 3rd reserve border outpost, 10th - 14th border outposts, maneuverable group. He was a member of the Office of the Border Troops of the NKVD of the Karelian-Finnish Border District.

The headquarters of the detachment was in the village of Reboly .

As part of the army from June 22, 1941 to November 30, 1941.

With the outbreak of war during the defensive operation, the detachment was transferred to operational subordination to the 337th Infantry Regiment , which was the only infantry formation of the Red Army in the Rugozersky direction and embarked on hostilities.

The detachment entered its first battles on July 3, 1941, when the reinforced Finnish 14th Infantry Division went on the offensive along the route of Lieksa - Rebola - Rugozero . Border outposts were quickly shot down [2] , and moved into the defense zone of the rifle regiment. Until mid-July 1941, the detachment, along with rifle units, fights for the Rebols . After leaving the village, the detachment, together with the rifle regiment and the 491st howitzer artillery regiment, fearing complete encirclement, retreated north from Rebol. Upon reaching its units, the detachment entered as a unit in the division of the Rebolsky direction , formed in the last days of July - early August 1941 and continued to operate in its composition. After stabilizing the situation a little to the west of Rugozero in mid-September 1941, the detachment was withdrawn from the front line and sent to guard the rear forces.

On November 30, 1941, it was reorganized into the 73rd border regiment of the NKVD troops .
