Birth and life before crime
Moses Sithole was born on November 17, 1964, in a poor neighborhood in Boksburg, Gauteng Province, during the apartheid era in South Africa . When the boy was five, his father died, and his mother abandoned the family. Sithole spent the next three years in an orphanage, where, as he later told, he was ill-treated. Moses fled to his mother, who sent him back. In the end, he moved in with his older brother. Reaching maturity, Moses married.
First Crimes and Imprisonment
At age 20, Sithole began his criminal career with the rape of three women. He was prosecuted. In prison, he was harassed and sexually harassed by inmates .
Kill Series
In 1994, Sithole began to commit rape and murder. For his crimes, he developed a unique scheme - posing as a businessman and owner of a non-existent charitable organization, he offered the unemployed a high-salary service. Having gained their trust , he offered to walk to his office, citing the opportunity to discuss all the details on the way. Making a sacrifice in a deserted place in the steppe, he attacked her, raped and choked. The crimes were committed in Attridgeville , in Boksburg and in Cleveland, a suburb of Johannesburg, because of which he received the nickname "ABC Killer" (in the first letters of the cities - "Atteridgeville" - A, "Boksburg" - B, "Cleveland" - C)
Sithole was cynical. After each murder, he called the relatives of the victims and told them about what had happened.
Corollary
In 1995, there were witnesses who saw one of the victims along with the maniac. Breaking through the base, the police established his identity. Sithole escaped, but before that he phoned the local journalist Thamsen de Beer and told about all his crimes. The police set the number, but by that time the killer had disappeared.
Arrest
After escaping, Sithole contacted one of his relatives with a request to hand him a gun. A relative promised to help him but he went to the police himself. An ambush was prepared at the venue. When Sithole realized this, he tried to escape, but the police opened fire on him. The killer received two injuries and was arrested.
Court
On December 5, 1997, Sithole was sentenced to 50 years in prison for each of the 38 murders, to 12 years for each of the 40 rapes and 5 years for each of the 6 robberies. A total of 2410 years. Judge David Carstairs concluded that Sithole must serve at least 930 years before it can be granted parole. Theoretically, he could be released in 2927.
