Career
Alexey Sitnikov started figure skating at the age of 5 years. Engaged in Kirov with Olga Nikolaevna Ryabinina . In 2004, she and Yulia Zlobina started performing at the international level, participated in the Grand Prix among juniors.
In 2005 , together with the coach and three more dancing couples ( Olga Gmyzina / Ivan Lobanov , Maria Mon'ko / Alexander Bortsov and Ksenia Mon'ko / Kirill Khalyavin ) moved to Rostov-on-Don , as there were offered the best conditions for training [1 ] [2] . In the 2006–2007 season, we won one of the stages of the Grand Prix among juniors and, receiving a bronze medal in the second, made our way to the Final Series, where there were 6 (of eight participants). The following season, they participated in the “adult” Grand Prix, without much success (7th and 9th place).
In May 2009 , again with Ryabinina, they moved to Moscow and joined the group of Elena Kustarova and Svetlana Alekseeva . But it was not possible to get into the main Russian national team because of the big competition [3] . Their highest place in the championships of Russia was the 5th place in 2010 .
In 2010, figure skaters decided to change sports citizenship and begin to play for Azerbaijan , where there are no other dance duets since 2009 [3] . For the first time under the flag of Azerbaijan, they performed in December 2010 at the Estonian Open Championship and beat the champions of Estonia, a couple Irina Stork / Taavi Rand . The first international competition for Azerbaijan was for the Ondrei Nepela Memorial 2011 couple in September 2011, in which they won bronze medals.
In March 2013, Alexei Sitnikov, together with Yulia Zlobina, won a license for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014 following the World Cup in Canadian London [4] . At the end of the year, at the Winter Universiade in Italy, an Azerbaijani couple won a silver medal for the first time for figure skating in Azerbaijan [5] .
At the end of the Olympic season, the couple decided to end their sports career.
