The Institute of Technology Studies of the State of São Paulo ( port. Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas do Estado de São Paulo, IPT ) is a research institute in the city of São Paulo , Brazil . The institute was founded in 1899 as the Material Resistance Lab of the USP Polytechnic School . Now it is one of the largest and most important research institutions of the country. The institute cooperates with the São Paulo State Development Secretariat through administrative coordination and devotes considerable attention to public policy.
The IPT covers an area of about 94 thousand m² of laboratories and other premises located in 62 buildings, 72 laboratories and 25 departments on the campus of Armando de Salles Oliveira in São Paulo.
The institute is administratively divided into 14 technical divisions:

- Center for Metrology of Fluids (Centro de Metrologia de Fluidos);
- Center for Metrology in Chemistry (Centro de Metrologia em Química);
- Center for Mechanical and Electrical Metrology (Centro de Metrologia Mecânica e Elétrica);
- Infrastructure Works Center (Centro de Obras de Infra-Estrutura);
- Center for Information Technology, Automation and Mobility (Centro de Tecnologia da Informação, Automação e Mobilidade);
- Center for Process Technology and Products (Centro de Tecnologia de Processos e Produtos);
- Center for Forest Technology Technology (Centro de Tecnologia de Recursos Florestais);
- Environmental Technology Center (Centro de Tecnologias Geoambientais);
- Center for Fashion Industry Technologies (Centro Tecnológico da Indústria da Moda);
- Center for Environmental Technology (Centro Tecnológico do Ambiente Construído);
- The nucleus of technology services for small businesses (Núcleo de Atendimento Tecnológico à Micro e Pequena Empresa);
- The core of economics and technology management (Núcleo de Economia e Administração de Tecnologia).
About 511 researchers, 405 engineers, 115 service workers, 255 administrative workers, 310 young scientists, 647 independent employees, a total of 2,200 people work at the IPT.
