History

The order for the construction of the submarine was given on October 30, 1939 . The boat was laid on October 26, 1940 at the shipyard Danziger Werft in Danzig under construction number 110, launched on September 23, 1941 , was commissioned on January 21, 1942 under the command of Rev. Hans-Ferdinand Massmann.

Service history

The boat made 6 combat trips. Sank 3 vessels with a total displacement of 16,199 bt , damaged one vessel with a displacement of 7,519 bt .
