Kharkov Automobile Repair Plant

Kharkov Automobile Repair Plant ( Ukrainian. Kharkiv Automobile Repair Plant ) is an enterprise of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. It carries out major repairs and re-equipment of automobile and special equipment for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine . The company is also known as a manufacturer of buses and civilian special equipment.

History

1944 - 1991

The plant was established in 1944 for the industrial repair of tracked vehicles, tractors and engines for the Red Army.

Since 1970 The company is known under the license number Kharkov Automobile Repair Plant No. 126 USSR Ministry of Defense . The plant has mastered the overhaul of GAZ-66 , ZIL-131 , KrAZ-255V , KrAZ-256B1 , KrAZ-6510 , MAZ-537 , MAZ-543 , Ural-375 , Ural-4320 cars, KS-2573 truck cranes, high-speed trench machines BTM -3 , BAT-M road-guards , engines of the YaMZ , YAZ , D12 , V-2 , V-46 families.

After 1991

After the proclamation of independence of Ukraine, the plant was transferred to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and received a new name: Kharkiv Automobile Repair Plant ( military unit A-0910).

In the 1990s due to a sharp reduction in defense orders, the company will start producing civilian products. The plant’s team mastered the overhaul and modernization of the T-150 and T-150K tractors, the re-motorization and re-equipment of cars, tractors and buses, the overhaul of the conversion transport HTZ-3N and MT-LBu machines, developed and put into production 150TL skidders based on the T tractor -150K and TM-96 on the basis of the ATS-59G tractor, special CXM-59G tracked vehicle on the basis of the ATS-59G tractor, TGM-126 , TGM-126-1 , TGM-126-2 tracked vehicles on the MT-LB chassis , 2S1 and MT-LBu, special equipment based on HTZ-26N .

In 1995 , under the state program for the conversion of defense enterprises, it was decided to master the production of large-capacity buses by the plant. The plant started production of the HARZ-5259 bus, developed by specialists of the Lviv Scientific Research Institute Ukravtobusprom . The bus was sold sluggishly, and its production was discontinued.

After the establishment of the state concern Tehvoenervice in 2005, the plant was incorporated into the concern [3] .

Since 2006 , the plant began to produce another large-capacity bus - Skif-5204 developed by Skif UTK , which was also sold in small quantities.

As of the beginning of 2008, the plant was able to:

  • to produce evacotas KET-T, spare parts and components for tracked tractor MT-LB, MT-LBu, ATS-59G [1]
  • to modernize tracked vehicles TGM-126, buses and trucks [1]
  • overhaul MT-LB, MT-LBu, ATS-59G track-type transporters; engineering machines BAT-M, BAT-2, BAT-3, BTM-3, MTD-2M, AT-T, MT-T; TM-96 skidders; truck cranes КС-4561АМ, КС-2573-2; UAZ-469, UAZ-452, UAZ-3151, GAZ-2140, GAZ-3102 passenger cars; engines YAZ-204, YaMZ-236, YaMZ-238V, YaMZ-240; MT-LB units [1]
  • repair the MAZ-537 chassis; engines GAZ-24, YaMZ-236, YaMZ-238, B2-450AV, V-46-4, A-650G, D12A-525; units for tracked vehicles MT-LB, MT-LBu, ATS-59G [1]

Since 2008 , a TOUR A-061 bus has appeared on the list of products of the Kharkov auto repair plant on the basis of the Mercedes-Benz 508D units , developed by Lviv Ukravtobusprom .

After the establishment of the state concern Ukroboronprom in December 2010, the plant became part of the concern.

By the beginning of January 2012, the economic situation of the plant was unsatisfactory, in terms of the amount of debt, the plant was on the list of the largest debtors of Ukraine [4] .

In December 2013, the Ukroboronprom group of companies fully repaid the debts of the enterprise [5] .

After February 22, 2014

At the end of November 2014, the plant allocated 5.96 million hryvnia for the repair of armored personnel carriers and MT-LB-AT tractors [6] for the armed forces of Ukraine [7] .

On January 5, 2015, at the proving ground in the Zhytomyr region [8], the armed forces of Ukraine were transferred to the MT-LB tractor repaired at the plant (half of which was armed with a machine gun) [9] .

On April 14, 2015, the plant received 9.56 million hryvnias for the repair of MAZ truck-mounted tractor units and semi-trailers for the armed forces of Ukraine [10] .

Following this, the plant received two contracts for the repair of engineering equipment for the armed forces of Ukraine (19 military excavators EOV-4421 and 16 PZM-2 earth-moving machines) with a total value of 9.072 million hryvnia [11] .

At the beginning of June 2015, Ukroboronprom Group of Companies announced a competition for the position of the plant director (since the former director was removed from the position) [12] .

On April 23, 2019, the press service of the Ukroboronprom concern reported that since the outbreak of hostilities in 2014, the plant repaired over 600 units of military equipment (of which over 250 pieces of MT-LB; over 60 PZM-2 earth-moving machines and EIA excavators -4421; over 40 BTR-60 and BTR-70 armored personnel carriers , as well as BAT-2 trackers and other vehicles) [2] .
