History
The name "Gremyach" comes from the key hitting here, which makes a loud (rattling) sound. The key gives rise to the small river of Gremyachka of the same name, which divides the settlement into two parts. The whole village is located on the right bank of the river Sudost on the old road between the cities of Novgorod-Seversky and Pogar . It was first mentioned in written sources in 1604, however, according to some researchers, it was founded as early as the 13th century. In the 18th century, it was owned by Chief Chamberlain Catherine II І.M. Korsak. During the war with the Swedes in 1709, the apartment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian troops of Count B.P. was located in Gremyach. Sheremetyeva . In April 1861, the villagers opposed the landowner of Ladomirskaya. In 1866, there were 390 courtyards and 2004 residents in Gremyach, and also had two churches — Mikhailovskaya (in the place of the Church of Barlaam) and the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (built in 1747). By 1897, Gremyach was considered a small town and consisted of 566 yards with 3,550 inhabitants, having a local school and library. In 1909, the Gremyachsky Higher Primary School was opened. In the years 1905-1907 during the First Russian Revolution rallies and demonstrations took place in the village, peasants clashed with the police.
