Daki (group)

DAKI (DaKi) is a duet consisting of Damir Shabakayev (born March 21, 1996) and Cyril Popelnyuk (born January 5, 1997). The group name was made up of the first letters of their names.

Content

Creative Biography

Cyril and Damir were born in Kaluga . They sing together since 4 years. They began their creative journey as part of the Bogatyr Strength show group under the direction of S. N. Osadchy. The group appeared in 1999 and until 2009 they acted under the name "Aquilon". But at the final of the Russian selection for Junior Eurovision in 2010, they already performed under their current name. Graduated from the All-Russian creative workshop of variety art to them. Maslyukov [1] .

In 2011, “Daky” got into Alla Pugacheva's “Factor A” project [2] [3] . There they reached the final, but dropped out, taking 6th place. Despite this, thanks to the wide audience of the Russia 1 TV channel, participation in the project brought them quite a wide publicity.

In September 2011, Daky signed a contract with Sony Music [4] . As a result, on December 12, 2011, the band released their debut single "Virus" [5] , to which the clip [6] was later released. The author of the song was Victor Chaika . He was also the co-author of the song “Cool Guys”, with which the duet reached the final of the Russian selection for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Katya Ryabova [7] , who represented Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and 2011, starred in the video.

In March 2014, a presentation of the “Criminal” hit, written by the poet Karen Kavaleryan, took place on the team’s Internet resources. The music authors are sound producers Bagrat Vartanyan and Andrei Kharchenko, as well as singer Dmitry Koldun . The Zapashny Brothers Circus took part in the preparation of the stage number for the song. The song participated in the qualifying round of Eurovision 2014 [8] .

In November 2014, the band presented their debut album - # 1 [9] [10] .

In June 2015, it became known that the group had broken up.

The team won awards at international and All-Russian competitions [11] , including:

  • "Kremlin stars" (2008) - 1 place [12]
  • Moscow Festival of Children's Patriotic Song - 2010 (1st place) [13]
