Statistics

In Poland there are 314 districts and 65 cities on the rights of a raid .
The largest area is Białystok County of Podlaskie Voivodeship - 2984.64 km².
The smallest area is the Bierun-Lendzinsky district of the Silesian Voivodeship - 158 km².
Warsaw has the largest area among cities on a povet basis - 517.24 km².
The smallest area among cities on a poviet basis is Sventołhlovice of the Silesian Voivodeship - 13.22 km².
The largest population has the Poznan district of Greater Poland Voivodeship - 288.0 thousand people.
The smallest population is the Sejen County Podlaskie Voivodeship - 21.4 thousand people.
Warsaw has the largest population among cities on a povet basis - 1,697.6 thousand people.
Sopot of the Pomeranian Voivodeship has the smallest population among cities on a povetial basis - 41.4 thousand people.

Administrative division of Powers

The districts are divided into communes ( Polish gmina - volost), the smallest administrative unit of Poland . There are three types of communes in Poland:

urban gmina ( Polish gmina miejska ) - consists only of a city, usually quite large (in the tables below in the column "number of gminas" is indicated g );
urban-rural commune ( Polish gmina miejsko-wiejska ) - consists of the city and the villages surrounding it (in the tables below in the column “number of communes” is indicated gf );
rural gmina ( Polish gmina wiejska ) - consists only of villages and rural areas (in the tables below in the column "number of gmins" is indicated with ).

There are 2484 communes in total in Poland (as of 2011):

1576 rural communes;
601 urban-rural communes;
307 city communes.

Supporting divisions ( Polish jednostka pomocnicza ) of the commune in rural settlements are Solectva ( Polish sołectwo ), and in cities settled ( Polish osiedle mieszkaniowe ) and dzelnitsy ( Polish dzielnica ).
