History
The order for the construction of the submarine was given on November 21, 1940 . The boat was laid down on September 12, 1941 at the Hovaldswerke shipyard , Kiel , under building number 19, launched on November 12, 1942, and entered service on December 31, 1942 under the command of Lieutenant (later Oberleutenant) Peter Schus.

Service History
The boat made one military campaign, success was not achieved. Departed from Kiel on her first campaign on June 8, 1943 .
