History
The order for the construction of the submarine was given on November 21, 1940 . The boat was laid down on September 12, 1941 at the Hovaldswerke shipyard , Kiel , under building number 19, launched on November 12, 1942, and entered service on December 31, 1942 under the command of Lieutenant (later Oberleutenant) Peter Schus.

Service History
