Biography
Zinaida Portnova was born on February 20, 1926 in the city of Leningrad in a working class family. By nationality, Belarusian. She graduated from 7 classes (1941).
In early June 1941, she arrived on school holidays in the village of Zui, near the Obol station in the Shumilinsky district of the Vitebsk region . After the Nazi invasion of the USSR, Zina Portnova was in the occupied territory. Since 1942, he has been a member of the Obolsky underground organization Young Avengers , led by the future Hero of the Soviet Union, E. S. Zenkova , a member of the organization’s committee. Underground was adopted by the Komsomol .
According to Soviet historiography, she participated in the distribution of leaflets among the population and sabotage against the invaders. Working in the dining room of the retraining courses for German officers, poisoned the soup, as directed by the underground (more than a hundred officers died). The Nazis began the search for intruders, suspecting everyone and everyone. Zina also came under suspicion, which the Germans almost force-fed with that very soup. She did not remember how she got to the porch of her grandmother's house, but she gave her a drink of herbal decoctions and milk whey, as a result, the girl remained alive. However, after what happened, she was mortally dangerous to remain in the village, and Portnova was transferred to a partisan detachment.
Since August 1943, the scout of the partisan detachment named after K.E. Voroshilova. In December 1943, returning from a task to find out the reasons for the failure of the Young Avengers organization, she was captured in the village of Mostishche and identified by a certain Anna Khrapovitskaya. At one of the interrogations in the Gestapo of the village of Goryany (now the Polotsk district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus), grabbing the investigator’s gun from the table, shot him and two other Nazis, tried to escape, was captured. After that, she was tortured for more than a month, trying to get any information about the partisans.
On the morning of January 10, 1944, she was shot in the prison of the city of Polotsk (according to another version - in the village of Goryany ).

- The name of Zina Portnova was given to a street in the Kirovsky district of St. Petersburg .
- From 1968 to 2000, the ship Zina Portnova existed in the Far Eastern Shipping Company .
