(1404) Ajax ( Greek Αίας ) is the Trojan asteroid of Jupiter , moving at the Lagrange point L 4 , 60 ° ahead of the planet. It was discovered on August 17, 1936 by the German astronomer Karl Reinmouth and named after the Greek hero Ajax the Great , who, according to ancient Greek mythology , participated in the siege of Troy [1] .
