Municipal educational institution secondary school No. 31 is a general educational institution in the Pervomaisky district of the city of Murmansk . It was founded in 1982 . The first school year began on September 1, 1982 . Students in grades 1–11 are being trained. The first director of the school is Valentina Nikolaevna Sidorenko .

Since 1990, the school has been collaborating with the Norwegian public school Pasvik, one of the foreign languages studied here is Norwegian [1] . Students are exchanging, school students have the opportunity to go to Norway for a one-year internship [2]
School History
- 1982 year . School opening. In the first year, there were 18 classes and 429 students.
- 1983 year . The school has 66 classes and 1361 students.
- 1988 year . The school begins to work in three shifts.
- 1989 year . Adoption of the program "Child in the North." Beginning of cooperation with the Murmansk State Pedagogical Institute ). Training becomes in two directions.
- October 1990 Start of cooperation with the Higher School of the Norwegian city of Svanvik .
- Since 1990 , an in-depth study of mathematics begins.
- Since 1992 , specialized education and pedagogical classes have appeared. Specialties: computer operator, tutor-tutor, then teacher of additional education.

Structure
The school has 57 classrooms, a computer language lab, 3 computer labs, 2 gymnasiums , an assembly hall, a library , a canteen, a medical room, and a dental office. There are two stadiums on the territory: a football field , a basketball court , a hockey court. At the school, in addition to the traditional gym, under the Health program, two exercise rooms and a relaxation room with a treadmill and an LCD screen were opened [1] [2] .
Since 1993, mathematical classes have been working at the school. One of the results of this was that in 2009 a graduate Andrei Vishnevsky scored 100 points at the USE in mathematics and computer science [2] [5] .
The school has developed labor training: wood carving, wood painting, art processing and modeling of clothes and much more.
There is a television journalist studio, and has its own in-school television [2] . Recently, the UniStar school radio station has also been operating . In April 2011, the school hosted the “IV Parade of the Children's Press”, dedicated to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight [6] .
The school teaches aerobics and sports dancing.
The school has an orchestra of folk instruments “Bachelor Party”, the repertoire of which, in particular, includes the tune “ Yesterday ”, performed on domra and balalaika . The head of the orchestra, a graduate of the Murmansk School of Music, playing many instruments, Viktor Shiryaev accepts school students into the orchestra, starting from the elementary grades. He developed his own methodology for quickly teaching children musical notation . The orchestra performs a lot, not only within the walls of the school, but also at various folklore festivals, including in Norway. The very first student who once enrolled in the orchestra, Alexei Zubkov, who was then a fifth grader, continued his musical education in Helsinki after school. The pride of the orchestra is Viktor Shustitsky, who entered the Gnesins' Music Pedagogical Academy after graduation [7] .
The school has a methodological council. Natural teachers create elective (complementary) courses approved by the pedagogical university. A number of teachers of the 31st school work in urban creative groups, sometimes leading them [1] .
The school has a system of self-government, a public council, which has replaced the board of trustees [1] .
Teaching staff
The school has a differentiated wage, depending on the number of hours, group work. A provision on incentive allowances has been developed. The average salary for October 2011 was about 31 thousand rubles [8] .
Newspapers in the city wrote about primary school teacher Irina Tadeichuk, who has been working at the school since 1980. Parents, according to the principal, write first graders to her class ahead of time. She, along with another experienced elementary school teacher Olga Sidorenko, is one of the authors of the Health program implemented at the school. Also, since the beginning of the 80s, Lilia Vasilievna Neizvestnykh, a teacher of the Russian language, has been working at the school of the Russian language teacher [1] . The mathematics teacher Tatyana Ivanovna has the highest qualification category and is the winner of the city contest "City Teacher" [8] .
Awards and honors
In 2008, the school was one of the winners in the All-Russian competition of schools introducing innovative educational programs. An innovative program has been introduced in the school since 2006 [1] [9] . The school purchased equipment for the millionth grant received by the school, now there are electronic boards in all classrooms, also with this money gyms, a language lab, two computer classrooms were equipped, and multimedia equipment was bought [2] .
