Notohippida ( lat. Notohippidae ) is a family of extinct mammals of the suborder Toxodonta of the order of the neotunuli living in South America . Outwardly, they resembled horses , as well as horse-like South American ungulates of the Litoptern detachment — the diadiforuses and toaterias . Known for the remains of the Eocene and Oligocene [1] .
