The first mention refers to 1429. One of the rabbis who served in the synagogue was rishonim Isserlein Israel ben Ptahiya (1390-1460). In March 1496, at the request of the estate meeting in Maribor, the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I issued an edict expelling the Jews from Styria and Carinthia, which entered into force in January 1497. After the Jews were expelled, the building was used as the Catholic Church of All Saints. Currently, the local history museum is located in the synagogue.
