In 1960 the lake occupied an area of only 0.48 km², and the depth reached 50 cm [2] . A few years later, the lake was artificially enlarged due to the improvement of the ichthyofauna .
According to academician-geologist Alexander Dzhanelidze, the basin of Lake Kumisi has a pseudo-Karstic origin [2] .
Water enters the lake from the Algeti River via a canal. The canal is deserted in places, small fish are found, covered with aquatic plants ( reeds , etc.).
Lake Kumisi feeds mainly on the canal and rain and groundwater. The bottom of the lake is covered with healing mud . The lake is rich in fish ( silver carp , carp , grass carp , cattle , Ordinary barbel , etc.).
Dacha plots are located around the lake, fishing is developed.
