London 1887 - A chess tournament, also known as the Third [K 1] Congress of the British Chess Union. Passed from November 29 to December 8, 1887 at the premises of the British Chess Club in Covent Garden . Only the British participated - almost all the strongest masters, including J. Blackburn, winner of the previous congress and I. Zuckertort , participant in the recent World Championship match ; instead of Skipport , who refused at the last moment, Antony Alfred Geoffrey Guest was included [2] .

The tournament was held in one round with 10 participants.
- Time control : 20 moves per hour.
- Prizes : 1st place - 30 Β£, 2nd - 20 Β£, 3rd - 10 Β£, 4th - 5 Β£
- Money received for admission tickets was divided between participants who did not receive the main prizes.
