The Taimyr Depression ( Taimyr Depression ) is a depression in the Krasnoyarsk Territory of Russia , located between the mouths of the Yenisei and Khatanga rivers . Morphologically, it is a lowland , to which the Central Siberian Plateau abruptly breaks off from the south, and Byrranga Mountains from the north.

The Taimyr depression is made of a thick layer of Mesozoic and Quaternary sediments. Quaternary sediments in its composition (especially in the western part of the basin) form a continuous cover with a thickness of up to 100-200 m. Glacial formations lie at the base of the Quaternary.
