The album is essentially a collection of specially recorded cover versions of rock and roll and does not include any songs from Perkins singles of that time. The album became one of the first works by Perkins on the new label Columbia , after he left Sun Records . The record features the hits of Little Richard , Elvis Presley , Jerry Lee Lewis , Ray Charles and Hank Williams . The album was released in monophonic sound.
