History
Previously called Wessen parish in the German name of the manor: Gut Wiessen (Weessen).
In 1935, the Zas parish of Jekabpils county occupied an area of 81.8 km² and had a population of 1222 inhabitants. In 1945, the parish consisted of the Liepa and Zassky village councils.
After the cancellation of the volost division in 1949, the Zassky village council was alternately part of the Aknistsky (1949-1956) and Jekabpils (1954-1990) districts. In 1951, the territory of the liquidated Liepa Village Council was annexed to the Zassky Village Council. In 1954 - the liquidated Berzon village council. In 1980 - part of the liquidated Slatsky Village Council [3] .
In 1990, the Zassky village council was reorganized into a volost. In 2009, at the end of the Latvian administrative-territorial reform, Zasskaya parish became part of the Jekabpils region.
