Biography
Since 1702, Samuel von Kokcei served as professor at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder .
From 1723 - in the public service, in 1738 - 1739 . Minister of Justice, since 1747 - Grand Chancellor of Prussia .
Von Kokcei stood at the origins of the work on the Prussian legal reform carried out by Frederick the Great . In 1749, Samuel von Koktsei was completed and entered into legal force a new code of laws "Corpus juris Fridericianum" , which in its impact on the social and legal sphere is comparable to the Justinian Code .
His labors earned him the nickname "Prince of Lawyers" and "Hercules, who cleared the Augean stables of Prussian law." In 1780, this code was redesigned again by von Carmer .
Father von Kokcei, Heinrich Kokcei , was also a well-known lawyer.
