Geography
It is located in the foothills of the Western Sayan , on the banks of the river Oya .
History
Initially, this locality arose as a logging village. It was assumed that after making the forest, people would withdraw and leave this hard-to-reach place. Gradually, a ten-year school, an inpatient hospital, several shops, and a post office appeared in the village.
The inhabitants of the Big River are busy gathering wild-growing plants, as well as small-scale logging. An important role in the life of the village is played by the Oja River, which is used for rafting and transporting cargo for fishermen and hunters.

Transportation
The transport connection with the district center Ermakovskoe (35 km distance) is provided by a regular bus that runs three times a week. Cellular communication disappears already 15 km from the village. There is a wired telephone connection.
In Bolshaya Rechka, all roads leading to the south of the Yermakovsky district end. Farther than the village, you can only drive a 15–20 km by truck along the old logging road.
