Biography

  • In 1972 he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Kiev State University (KSU) them. Shevchenko, in 1977 - graduate school at KSU (now - Kiev National University named after Taras Shevchenko ). Candidate of Historical Sciences.
  • From 1976 to 1999 - teacher, then assistant professor at KSU.
  • In 1993–2003, he was the founder and editor-in-chief of the journal “Political thought”. Until the last days of his life, he was the head of the Internet project “Political thinking” , carried out by the journal and the Institute of Post-Communist Society.
  • From June 1998 to February 1999 - Head of the Office of Internal Policy of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine.
  • From 1999 to 2006 - Leading Researcher, Institute of World Economy and International Relations, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine .
  • From April 2006 - people's deputy of Ukraine of the 5th convocation from the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc (electoral bloc of political parties All-Ukrainian Association “Batkivshchyna” , Ukrainian Social Democratic Party , “Reform and Order” Party ).
  • Chairman of the Subcommittee on Intellectual Property of the SC Committee on Science and Education (since July 2006), co-chairman of the deputy group of the Supreme Council on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Poland, member of the permanent delegation of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
  • From November 2007 - people's deputy of Ukraine of the 6th convocation of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc. From December 2007 - Chairman of the Committee of the Supreme Council of Ukraine on science and education .

Scientific Research

Scientific research in the field of geopolitics, comparative political science of post-communist countries, political technologies. He was the scientific director of the Center for Sociological and Political Science "Sotsіovimіr" ("Social Measurement").

Family

  • His wife is Pirozhuk, Marina Nikolaevna , author and presenter of the programs of the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty and the era of Svoboda TV program, since 2007 - the chief editor of the Internet publication Politichna Dumka.
  • Children: Victoria, Anastasia, Vladislav.

He lived in the village Kotsyubinskoe near Kiev.

Death

He died on September 23, 2011 in the Kiev hospital "Feofaniya" after a previous stroke. He was buried in Kiev at the Baikov Cemetery .
