LaserWriter is Apple 's 1985 laser printer . LaserWriter was the first laser printer with an integrated Adobe PostScript interpreter.
History
The first LaserWriter printer hit the market in January 1985 and cost $ 6,995. [1] LaserWriter provided high print quality for that time - 300 dpi, provided a number of advantages provided by using the PostScript interpreter, and had a (relatively) affordable price. Due to this, the output of the LaserWriter printer served as an impetus for the development of computer typesetting [2] and, as a result, became one of the main factors that led to the printing revolution [3] .
Following LaserWriter, series such as Personal LaserWriter, LaserWriter Pro, and LaserWriter Select were released. The latest LaserWriter family of black and white printers is the LaserWriter 8500.
Design
At the heart of LaserWriter was the mechanics of "Canon CX" (LBP-CX), as in the HP LaserJet , which appeared in 1984 [4] . Due to this, they were partially compatible in consumables and components.
