Club career
The first professional team of Max Pacioretti was the USHL Sioux City Musketeers. In 2007, Max was selected for the draft Montreal Canadiens , but before moving to the NHL , he played another year for the team of the University of Michigan . On January 2, 2009, the young striker made his debut in the NHL in a match against the New Jersey Devils .
On March 8, 2011, in the second period of the match between the Montreal Canadiens and the Boston Bruins , the Slovak defender of Boston Zdeno Hara held a power reception against Max Pacioretti. [1] As a result, the forward crashed his head into the rack holding the protective glass and, as a result, received a concussion and damage to the cervical vertebra. Hara was removed until the end of the match. [2] The incident received a wide response, in particular, a police investigation was launched on this episode. [3] Despite concerns that the incident could adversely affect his career, Max Pacioretti in 2011 signed a new 2-year contract with Montreal. [4] At the end of the 2011/12 season, the forward became the team’s top scorer, scoring 65 (33 + 32) points in the goal + pass system, and entered his name in the club’s history as the first American to submit to Canadiens milestone 30 goals per season. In August 2012, extended the contract with Montreal for 6 years by $ 27 million.
Starting in the 2015/16 season, he was appointed captain of Montreal.
A year before the end of the contract, on September 10, 2018, he was exchanged at Vegas Golden Knights for Tomash Tatara , Nika Suzuki and a choice in the 2nd round of the draft of 2019 [5] . On the same day, he signed with Vegas a new 4-year contract for a total of $ 28 million. [6]
Team Career
In 2008, Max Pacioretti as part of the youth team of the United States took part in the youth world championship , held in the Czech Republic . In 2012, a hockey player in the main national team took part in the World Cup , with 12 (2 + 10) points, becoming the team’s top scorer.
Personal life
In July 2011, Max Pacioretti got married. The hockey player's wife was Yekaterina Afinogenova, tennis player and sister of the famous Russian hockey player Maxim Afinogenova . [7] December 23, 2013 the first-born was born in the family; the boy was named Lorenzo. [8] On July 12, 2015, the second son was born to the couple, who was named Maximus Raymond. [9]
