Thambiluvil ( English Thambiluvil , there. தம்பிலுவில் ) - a coastal city in the eastern province of Sri Lanka . It is located about 8 km south of Akkaraypattu, north of the city of Thirukkovil. Previously located in Batticaloa County, now it is part of the Thirukovkov OS Division of Ampara County in the Eastern Province. Residents, mainly Tamils and Indians. Their main source of income is agriculture. Since 1960, people began to try to get an education to work in other areas of the economy. This place is famous for its temples and ancient Tamil culture. There is a temple of Murugan: Sri Sithravalayutha Suwami Kovil. Also in the city there is a famous educational institution - Thambiluvil National College (TMMV - Thambiluvil Madhya Maha Vidyalaya).

Thambiluvil was seriously affected by the tsunami on December 26, 2004 . Due to the tsunami, many lost their property, including houses, cattle and rice fields. People returned to normal thanks to help from government and non-governmental organizations.
From ancient times, the Kuti system, which is responsible for marriage and temple management, has played an important role in local self-government. The head of the temple Mururgan is selected only from the "Kandang Kuti."
