History
The museum was founded in 1995 in the mansion of the former tobacco manufacturer - and was conceived as a museum of modern art - “Ars Nova”, but during the restoration work in the palace’s garden at a depth of 7 meters a whole block of medieval Turku was discovered and excavated, which, after museumification, became a separate museum "Aboa Vetus". [one]
In 2004, the museums were united into a single complex - “Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova”, which has now become one of the most visited museums in Turku (160 thousand visitors a year).
The collection of the Ars Nova Museum of Modern Art is represented by the collection of the , which includes more than 500 works by leading masters of contemporary Finnish and world art.
