John Michael McDonough , also McDoon ( born John Michael McDonagh , pronounced McDoon [1] ; born 1967 [2] ) is an Anglo - Irish film director and screenwriter nominated for the BAFTA (2012). Brother of Martin McDonagh .

Biography
John Michael began his directorial career in 2000, filming the short drama "Second Death." Adapted Robert Drew ’s novel “Our Sunshine” for Gregor Jordan ’s film “ The Kelly Gang ”. In 2011 he shot the first full-length film - “ Once Upon a Time in Ireland ” (in the original “The Guard”; Eng. The Guard ) - which became the most commercially successful independent film of Irish production [3] . In 2013, he completed work on the second film - “ Calvary ” - awarded the prize of an independent (Christian) jury of the Berlin Film Festival [4] . He plans to shoot the third film, which will be the completion of the so-called Glorified Suicide Trilogy - a series of tragicomedy with Brendan Gleason in the title role [5] . The film will be called "The Lame Shall Enter First" and tells about a person with paralysis of the leg [6] .
