Biography
Alexander A. Efimov was born on October 5, 1905 in St. Petersburg. In 1928 entered the Leningrad VHUTEIN . In 1932 he graduated from the Institute with the assignment of the title of artist of painting [2] . Some earlier sources [1] indicate the year 1936 as the date of graduation from the institute, as well as the title of the thesis: “Fishermen farewell” In the same place among teachers A. Efimov are called I. Brodsky and D. Kardovsky.
He participated in exhibitions since 1939, exhibiting his works together with the works of leading masters of fine arts of Leningrad. He worked in the technique of oil painting and watercolor. Member of the Great Patriotic War. Creativity A. Efimov was mainly devoted to the history of the Navy. He worked in the Marine Marine Marine Workshop from 1952 to 1962 [3] . Among the works created by the artist are the paintings "Leningradka" (1943), "Leningradka" [4] (1947), "Soldier's Friendship" [1] (1946), "In the Shelon Forests", "Winter" [5] (both 1950 ), “Sailors in the battles for Budapest” [6] (1951, together with the artist A. In 1937–1938, he taught at the Leningrad School of Humanities ; in 1944–1952, at the Ilya Repin IYLFA . Candidate of Art Criticism (1946) [1] . He was married to the artist Ekaterina Matveevna Efimova (1910-1996). The father of the Leningrad artist Olga Alexandrovna Efimova (1934-1994).
Efimov Alexander Alekseevich died on December 3, 1964 in Chisinau at the sixtieth year of life. His works are in museums and private collections in Russia and abroad.
