Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL, 和 記 黃埔 有限公司 or Hutchison Wampoa) is one of the largest corporations on the Fortune 500 list and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange . History

In 1877, the Englishman John Hutchison founded the trading company Hutchison International , which in 1963 acquired AS Watson & Co , and in the mid-1960s acquired the shipbuilding company Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock , founded earlier in 1863 [4] [ 5] . In 1979, HSBC sold its stake in Hutchison to Cheung Kong to Hong Kong businessman Lee Kashin. In 1985, Hutchison was transformed into the Hutchison Whampoa holding.

In 2006, Singapore-based PSA International (Port of Singapore Authority) bought a 20% stake in a subsidiary of Hutchison Port Holdings . As of March 2011, more than 220 thousand people worked in Hutchison Whampoa, the market value of the corporation was about $ 50 billion, and sales - almost $ 27 billion.

At the end of 2016, CK Hutchison and the Russian company VimpelCom Ltd. merged their Italian telecommunications assets - 3 Italia and Wind Telecomunicazioni. As a result, the country's largest wireless operator appeared, in which partners own 50% of the joint venture [6] .

Hutchison Port Holdings

The company is the largest port operator in the world and handles 13% of all container traffic. Hutchison Whampoa Property

The company began its real estate business by erecting a large residential complex Whampoa Garden ( Kowloon City ) on the site of the former shipyards of Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock.
