Biography
Vesta Williams was born December 1, 1957 in Cauchton ( Ohio , USA ). Vesta became interested in music at school, which is not surprising (her father was a DJ ). In the late 1960s, Vesta moved to Los Angeles , California with her parents and sisters.
In 1977, Vesta returned to Ohio , where she began performing in the band “Wild Honey” (with Freddie Poole ), but she soon returned to Los Angeles to begin a solo career.
Vesta initially worked as a session musician, collaborated with artists such as: Chuck Khan , Gladys Knight , Stephanie Mills and Gordon Lightfoot .
As a solo artist Vesta recorded 7 albums: “Vesta” (1986), “Vesta 4 U” (1988), “Special” (1991), “Everything-N-More” (1993), “Relationships” (1998), “ Winning Combinations "(2000) and" Distant Lover "(2007). Above their 6th album, Winning Combinations ", Williams worked with CC Peniston .
In the period 1993-1999, Vesta played two roles in the cinema: Vera in the film Armed Squad (1993) and Monica in three episodes of the television series Sister, Sister (1998-1999).
53-year-old Vesta Williams died on the night of September 21-22, 2011 in one of El Secundovskiy California Hotels. The cause of her death was allegedly an overdose of drugs, which, according to a statement by the California police, could have been an accident or suicide.
Vesta has a daughter and granddaughter.
