Jaunjelgava district

Jaunjelgavsky district ( Latvian. Jaunjelgavas rajons ) is a former administrative district of the Latvian SSR .

History

Jaunjelgava district was formed by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Latvia. SSR of December 31, 1949 from the city of Jaunjelgava , part of the Mazzal volost , Daudze , Sets , Seren volosts of the Jekabpils district , Kurmen and Taurkaln volosts of the Bauska district and Birzgal volost of the Ogre district [1] .

The district consisted of Birzgalsky, Daudzesky, Daugavieshsky, Deglupsky, Gobsky, Greblysky, Krastsky, Kruminsiemsky, Kurmensky, Oshkalnsky, Setsky, Serensky, Taurkalnsky, Taursilsky, Uzvarsky, Vallesky, Vetsserensky rural councils. The district center was the city of Jaunjelgava [2] .

On July 14, 1954, the Deglupsky, Gobsky, Krastsky, Oshkalnsky, Taursilsky, Uzvarsky and Vetserensky rural councils were liquidated. They were annexed respectively to the Daugavies, Welsh, Greblsky, Birzgalsky, Krastsky, Daudzesky and Serensky village councils.

From 1952 to 1953, the Jaunjelgava district was part of the Riga region . After the liquidation of the district on December 7, 1956, parts of its territory were included in the Jekabpils , Baldonsky and Bausky districts .

At the time of liquidation, the district consisted of the city of Jaunjelgava and eleven village councils: Birzgalsky, Daudze, Daugaviesh, Grebly, Krast, Kruminsiems, Kurmensky, Setsky, Serensky, Taurkalnsky, Waleski.
