Biography
He entered the military service in the early 1800s as a cunker in the 2nd artillery regiment, on June 25, 1801 he was promoted to second lieutenant .
In 1806-1807 he took part in the campaign against the French in East Prussia , was awarded a special golden cross for Preisisch -Eylau. He was seriously wounded in the head during the Russian-Turkish war of 1806-1812, but did not resign.
In 1812, he took part in repelling Napoleon’s invasion of Russia , and after the expulsion of the French, he was on a foreign campaign of 1813-1814 .
At the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Eisen von Schwarzenberg served at the Kiev Arsenal, on December 10, 1816 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In 1823 he commanded the 1st Battery Company of the 4th Artillery Brigade.
He was a freemason , and in 1821 he was in the Kiev Masonic lodge of the “United Slavs”. He started a mutual education school for 160 people in Kiev at the 3rd Pontoon Company.
January 11, 1825 he was appointed headquarters officer for the artificial part of the Kiev arsenal. In 1826, Eisen-von-Schwarzenberg was involved in the investigation of the case of the Decembrists , his belonging to the Southern Society was not confirmed. Suspected of belonging to the Kiev secret society.
In 1827 he was promoted to colonel and in 1831 participated in the suppression of the uprising in Poland . In the years 1832-1834. commander of the Petersburg arsenal.
April 7, 1835 promoted to major general . In the years 1840-1844. served as commander of the Kiev arsenal.
He died in 1846.
His son Nikolai (retired general from infantry) was the head of the 1st Grenadier Division. The second son, Karl, was a colonel.
