Career

Gascoigne was one of the stars of the English national team at the 1990 World Cup . The England team then managed to reach the semifinals, losing on penalties to their most important rival - the German team. Shots of crying Gascoigne from resentment then circled the whole world.

After the world championship ended, Gascoigne moved from Newcastle United to Tottenham Hotspur . With the new club, Gazza reached the final of the FA Cup [4] , where already in the 17th minute of the match against Nottingham Forest , after his own rough reception, he suffered a right knee injury and was replaced. Nevertheless, Tottenham managed to win in extra time thanks to Des Walker's own goal.

Having missed an entire 1991/92 season due to injury (including the 1992 European Championship in Sweden), the midfielder for 5.5 million pounds moved to the Roman “ Lazio ” [5] , but in three seasons he played in only 42 matches .

In 1995 , he ended up in the Rangers , with whom he twice became the champion of the country and was recognized as the best football player in Scotland in 1996 (one of three Englishmen who received this award).

In 1998 , Gascoigne once again changed the club, this time moving to Middlesbrough .

At the 1996 European Football Championships in England, Paul scored a phenomenal beauty goal in a match against Scotland. Gascoigne effectively defeated the Scottish defender and struck, not allowing the ball to touch the field. However, the England team as a result did not reach the final.

In 2002 he was included in the English Football Hall of Fame .

September 26, 2010 there was information that Gascoigne will head the " Garfort Town " [6] . However, already on October 7, it was reported that he would not be in the team. In August 2014, Gascoigne was declared for the Abby club of the fourth division of the Sunday League of Bournemouth [7] .

In 2015, the documentary of director and journalist Jane Preston, Gascoigne, was released. The legend of England . "

March 30, 2019 entered the field in the match of veterans Tottenham and Inter [8] .
