Overview
After New Order released the successful album Republic on the new label London Records ( Warner Concern) in 1993, interest in the band increased on the music market. However, contrary to this, the New Order decided to disperse in the same year. In light of this, it was decided by the label to release collections of both the New Order and the Joy Division (see Permanent ). A collection of the best songs of The Best of New Order was released in 1994. In continuation of the marketing campaign of London Records in 1995, a collection of remixes was prepared. More than half of them were specially made by leading remixers of Europe at that time. The other half of the remixes was once released on singles from Republic . The earliest remix presented on the album is “ True Faith (Shep Pettibone Remix) ” of 1987.
On the eve of the release of the compilation, the single “ Blue Monday-95 ” was released with techno-style remixes (as the second disc, the single was included in the limited edition of the album), which took 17th place. The main remix from the single - in the version of the German techno-duet Hardfloor - was also included in the compilation. The hard techno version of the song “ Confusion ” (Pump Panel Reconstruction Mix) gained popularity after 3 years thanks to the scene in the movie “ Blade ”. She released a single in 1996.
For a long time The Rest of New Order remained the longest playing CD (80 minutes, 2 seconds). The collection also came out in audio cassette format, which included two remixes that were missing on the CD: Everything's Gone Green (Dave Clarke Remix) and Temptation (CJ Bolland Remix).
Cover
The album cover is framed by Peter Saville and generally follows the design concept of The Best of New Order compilation. The title of the collection on the cover looks like “(the rest of) New Order”, printed under a deformed question mark. The limited edition came in a different color scheme. With the exception of the list of songs, the text in the booklet is missing.

All songs are written by New Order , except for specially noted ones.
