History

Festo was founded by Gottlieb Stoll and Albert Fetzer in 1925. Initially, they produced woodworking equipment , and entered the automation industry much later. In 2000, the electric tool business was transformed into a separate company, which became known as Festool . In 2002, Festo appealed to the US Supreme Court to resolve the Festo Corp. case . v. Shoketsu Kinzoku Kogyo Kabushiki Co.

Products

Products range from simple kits and assemblers to fully automated solutions that include equipment from both Festo itself and third-party manufacturers. A typical task of the company is the development of special production equipment.

Festo works with institutes, universities and software companies on the Bionic Learning Network program [3] . This program allows you to implement ideas and initiatives in the fields of automation and didactics , which can then be useful when developing new products. Such products were Aqua Jelly [4] , AquaPenguin [5] [6] , Aqua Ray [7] , Airic's arm [8] , Airacuda [9] and SmartBird [10] [11] .

One of the latest creations of Festo specialists, in addition to the BionicWheelBot spider robot transformer, is the BionicFlyingFox flying robot, the prototype of which was the flying fox, the largest of the bat family. The BionicFlyingFox robot, according to company representatives, is an "ultralight flying object with intelligent kinematics." The length of the robot is 87 centimeters, the wingspan is 228 centimeters, and the weight is only 580 grams [12] .

Festo CIS

The history of Festo's presence in Russia began when, in 1971, the company entered into the first contract for the supply of automation equipment with the USSR Ministry of Machine Tools .
