The order for the construction of the submarine was given on September 23, 1939 . The boat was laid down on November 17, 1939 at the Hovaldswerke shipyard , Kiel , under building number 3, launched on March 8, 1941 . The boat went into operation on April 19, 1941 under the command of Captain-Lieutenant Heinz-Joachim Neumann.

Service History
The boat made 8 military campaigns, sunk 3 vessels with a total displacement of 11,751 gb and the British submarine ship base Medway with a displacement of 14,650 gb. It was sunk on August 4, 1942 in the Mediterranean southwest of Haifa , in an area with coordinates , depth charges from the British destroyers HMS Sikh and HMS Zulu (F18) and escort ships HMS Croome and HMS Tetcott , as well as depth charges from the British Wellington aircraft. 48 crew members escaped (there were no fatalities). In his memoirs, Steel Coffins, German submarine veteran Gerberg Werner mentioned that U-372 was flooded on March 20, 1945 as a result of an attack with depth charges near Cape Lizard (England).
Boat Attacks
