History
The order for the construction of the submarine was given on August 25, 1941 . The boat was laid down on July 6, 1942 at the Flensburger Schiffsbau shipyard , Flensburg , under building number 490, launched on June 11, 1943 . The boat went into service on August 27, 1943 under the command of Lieutenant Ulrich Hammer.

Service History
The boat did not make military campaigns, and did not achieve success. Sank March 16, 1945 in the Baltic Sea , near Hela , in the area with coordinates as a result of a mine blast from a barrier fired by the Soviet submarine L-21 three days earlier. 43 dead (whole crew).
