Brunei cuisine - Brunei cuisine. Very similar to Malaysian , Indonesian and Singaporean cuisines [1] , is under their influence; There are borrowing dishes from Indian , Chinese , Thai and Japanese cuisines . As in the whole region, the basis of food is fish and rice, meat is not widespread due to the high cost of living. Since most of the population professes Islam , food is halal , and eating pork is avoided. Alcohol in Brunei is prohibited [1] . In the countryside, wild birds, Indian sambars and muntjaks are hunted.

Dishes in the Brunei cuisine are usually spicy, as they are full of spices, usually rice or noodles are served as a side dish. Popular dishes are Rendang , Nasi Lemak and Puterni Nanas [2] . Among the dishes typical of Brunei are the sweetness of ambuy , a sticky starch ball, which is dipped in a sweet fruit sauce.

Common drinks are coconut milk , fruit juice, tea and coffee .
