Biography
The early years
Born on October 1, 1964 in the village of Talon in the Turochaksky district of the Gorno-Altai Autonomous Region in a large family of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Vasily had eight older brothers and sisters. He was the ninth child in the family - the youngest.
Beginning
After graduating from Talon school, in 1981 he began his career as head of the Talon village club.
In 1982-1984 he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. During the service, he took part in hostilities in the territory of the Republic of Afghanistan. He graduated from the rank of sergeant. He was awarded the badge “Excellent student of the Soviet Army”, “Warrior-athlete” 2nd degree, the medal “From the grateful Afghan people”, the diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the diploma of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, the medal “Warrior-internationalist” and “70 years of the Armed Forces” .
After demobilization, he worked for a short time in a prospecting artel, later as a driver of a car club. In 1986 he entered the Barnaul School of Music, which he graduated in 1990.
Prosperity, Mature Years
Vyalkov's concert activity began during his studies as part of the Pesnokhorki folklore group, which toured Russia and abroad in Hungary, Romania and Spain. After graduating from a music school, Vasily returned with his family to his native Turochak district. After many creative searches and experiments, he created the Yarmanka Folk Ensemble in 1990. Thanks to painstaking work in folklore expeditions in the Altai Territory and the Altai Republic, Vyalkov and the band members recorded hundreds of old Russian folk songs, many of which, after processing and arranging, became part of the Yarmanka repertoire.
In 1997, Vyalkov graduated with honors from the Altai State Institute of Arts and Culture (Omsk Branch). During his studies, he gets acquainted with the Omsk group “The Seventh Model” , with which later on “Yarmanka” develops an interesting creative union. Together with "The Seventh Model" were released discs "Not for me" (2001), "Yarilo" (2004), "Ermak" (2007).
At the final selection of the Eurovision-2002 contest, the song “Vanyusha” from the album “Not for Me” was included in the top twenty.
Vasily and Marina Vyalkov are the authors of the idea and the organizers of the festival "Springs of Altai", which was given the status of a republican. The glory of the Kupal Night, an inter-regional ethnic holiday they created, has long crossed the borders of the Altai Republic.
Vasily Vyalkov was a deputy of the Turochak District Council of Deputies from 2002 to 2009.
Family
Even while studying at the Barnaul School of Music, Vasily met his future wife, Marina. In 1987, they started a family. In 1989, they gave birth to a daughter, Daria, in 1993 - the daughter of Alyona, and in 1995 - the son of Danil.
