RangeBristle Shrike - Borneo endemic . Its habitat is humid Kalimantan rainforests up to 1200 m above sea level [5] [6] . Also found in mangroves . The habitat area of ββbirds is inaccessible and extensive, therefore the conservation status of the species is minimal risk (NT) [7] .
View DescriptionRepresentatives of the species are birds with a body length of about 25 cm . The plumage is black or dark gray , the beak is massive, black, the head and neck are red or bright orange [8] .
The bristles shrimps live in tree crowns among branches and foliage . The basis of nutrition is insects and larvae . Birds inhabit small and medium flocks [9] .
SystematicsThe systematic position of the genus Pityriasis is a matter of debate. According to various classifications , it was attributed to the families of shrikes [6] , forest shrikes , flute birds , swallow shrikes, and even to corvids [10] [11] [12] . The International Union of Ornithologists as of June 2019 distinguishes it in a separate family Pityriasidae [1] .
